Terms of Service

These terms cover the website only. They do not cover penetration testing or any other service we provide.

Each engagement is governed by its own agreement, signed by both sides.

Where that agreement and these terms differ, the agreement governs the services.

A quote request starts a conversation. It does not commit you or us to anything, and a quote we send back is not a contract.

Testing only happens under a separate written agreement, signed by both sides.

We only test systems with authorisation from someone entitled to give it.

Please give accurate details when you ask for a quote, so we can scope the work properly. We may decline any request.

You may use the site to learn about our services, read our guidance and request a quote.

When you use it, you must not:

• break the law, or help anyone else break it
• send spam, automated submissions or false details through the quote form
• disrupt the site, overload it or try to get round its security
• send or upload malicious code
• copy or collect the site's content at scale with automated tools
• pretend to be someone else, or suggest a link with us that does not exist

You must not scan, probe or test this site, or any other system of ours, for weaknesses without our written permission.

Nothing on this site gives anyone permission to test our systems or anyone else's.

Our guidance describes how authorised testing works. Use it only on systems you own or have written permission to test.

The site gives general information about penetration testing and our services.

It is not professional advice for your situation, and reading it does not start an engagement between us.

Sample findings and sample reports on this site are illustrations, tagged Sample. They are not client data.

The other drawings illustrate how we work and show no client data.

Where a sample names a client, it is Acme Corp, a fictional company.

We work to keep the content accurate, but we provide it as it is, with no promise that it is complete, current or free of errors.

The GreySurface name and logo, and the site's text, graphics, drawings and code, belong to GreySurface or are used with permission.

Third-party material on the site, such as its fonts, is used under its own licence.

You may view the site, link to it and quote short extracts with credit to GreySurface.

Please ask us before reusing more, or before using our name or logo in a way that suggests we work with or endorse you.

These terms give you no other rights in our name or materials.

You are responsible for what you send us through the quote form or by email.

Send only information you are allowed to share, and leave out passwords, keys and other secrets.

How we handle the personal data you send is explained in our privacy policy.

We may change, pause or withdraw any part of the site at any time.

We do not promise that the site will always be available, uninterrupted or free of faults.

If we link to other websites, we do so for your information.

We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or for how they handle your data.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using the site or relying on its general content.

Nor are we liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business or data, arising from the site.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or any rights you have under the law where you live.

Our services are governed by the agreement for those services, not by these terms.

If you misuse the site

If you break these terms or the law when using the site, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs that a resulting claim against us causes.

This applies to the extent the law allows.

We may restrict, suspend or end access to the site or the quote form for anyone we reasonably believe has broken these terms.

The parts of these terms that by their nature should continue, such as those on liability and our materials, still apply after that.

How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy policy.

We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.

Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about using the site. They do not replace any agreement for our services.

• If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies.
• If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
• We may transfer our rights under these terms. You may not transfer yours without our written agreement.
